According to The Editors weblog, 20 Minutos is now the Spanish paper with the largest readership. The latest “Estudio General de Medios” shows that 20 Minutes with a readership of 2,298,000 has surpassed El Pais as the most widely read newspaper, a fact bound to please 20-Minutos editor Arsenio Escolar, himself a former El Pais sub-director.

If you are eager to integrate yourself locally, and don’t want to be taken for a guiri on the Metro, these are the papers you should be reading:

  • 20-Minutos (circulation: 2,298,000)
  • El Pais (2,048,000)
  • Que! (1,923,000)
  • Metro (1,904,000)
  • El Mundo (1,342,000)

I guess that would have been “El Periodico”, which only comes out in Catalonia - yes, it has a version in spanish and catalan.
